JUDE HAMMERSLEY

Exhibition: 14 October – 14 January

Opening: 9.00 am – 8:00 pm

Jude explores the concept of natural graffiti and uses mark-making as inspiration for her work with photography and textiles. She uses her immediate surroundings as a source of rich visual information.

The marks made by cracked and peeling paint and other man made shapes and materials are usually in a stark contrast to the natural growth and decay in forgotten places and abandoned industrial buildings.

“I use natural materials such as wool and silk to make large scale and installation pieces that respond to the environment they are placed in”

Will Kew is an artist, designer and recent graduate with BA(Hons) in Fine Art, living in Birmingham.
The works displayed here have been selected from Will’s degree show, which took place in June.
Inspired by the woodblock prints of pre-modern Japan, the works combine traditional folklore with elements of science fiction, manga and pop culture.

The screenprints are the result of a hybrid of handmade and computerised processes, and as such each image is unique.

Will currently works as a freelance graphic designer, but continues to pursue his passion for fine art printmaking, and plans to return to the studio this summer.
