Appointment of Chief Officer – Moseley Community Development Trust
Moseley CDT is delighted to welcome our new Chief Officer Lorna Brewster.
Lorna is joining us in early April from the Big Lottery Fund where she was a Senior Portfolio Manager across the UK with a focus on organisational cultural change and staff development. Lorna before this led on the Women and Girls initiative and played a key role in the Big Lottery’s Big Lunch, helping to bridge social and cultural divides. Lorna is stepping into the role created by Tony Thapar, who founded and led the organisation for 17 years.
Talking about the move to lead the CDT Lorna feels:
“Moseley really is a unique place – it has a great community spirit and some amazing assets both within its people and the environment. I grew up in Moseley, going to school at St Bernard’s and later Swanshurst. I lived just off the Wake Green Road and we were lucky enough to have our own gate into Moseley Bog at the bottom of our garden, where we’d spend many weekends building dens and generally getting rather muddy. In my spare time you will often find me in a Moseley pub or café, volunteering on the community stand at the Farmers Market, wandering around Moseley Park, or if not I may be at home with my hammers and tools attempting to craft vaguely wearable silver jewellery. I am really excited about joining the CDT, building on its already great work and am hugely looking forward to meeting everyone.”
Fiona Adams, as a Trustee of the CDT, is excited about Lorna’s decision to join the Trust:
“Lorna articulated a great vision for the Trust and I’m sure she will lead us to new areas of development as we grow the Trust’s work in Moseley. She has a clear focus on change and will bring people along with her as we renew our efforts in community led development”.
As Trustees and staff of Moseley CDT we all give a warm welcome to Lorna and will strive to work with her for the benefit of all the citizens of Moseley.
